The traditional core of 1199 is based in the hospital industry of New York and Long Island, where dozens of institutions form the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes for Collective Bargaining with our union. Contract 1199SEIU/League is a framework agreement that covers tens of thousands of hospital employees. This is the `standard contract` whose conditions we are trying to fulfil – wages, social benefits and protection of workers – throughout our Union. With the legal, bargaining and logistical support of unionized workers, your bargaining team will struggle to ensure that their priorities are reflected in the final contract. This year, the state bargaining team set out to renegotiate the state workers` contract. Throughout the process, members provided feedback through bargaining surveys, took action through petitions, participated in unit breakdowns and rallies, and connected via social media to get results on the issues that mattered most to them.
